Tom Morrison
(Palatine, IL) – January 5, 2010. Republican state representative candidate Tom Morrison yesterday criticized incumbent State Rep. Suzie Bassi (R-Palatine) for voting present 1,198 times in four years.
“When it comes to my opponent, the English proverb ‘Old Habits Die Hard’ describes her failure to represent our district’s citizens in Springfield,” Morrison said.
“The official Illinois House record … shows Bassi voted ‘Present’ 1,198 times between 2000 and 2004.”
“My opponent claims she is representing our district, but the published facts show the opposite – a persistent record of irresponsibility, either as ‘Present,’ ‘Not Voting’ or ‘Excused Absences,’ and without explanation, again and again and again,” said Morrison.
Morrison is one of a long-line of conservative Republicans who have attempted to unseat the moderate Bassi over the years. Bassi has survived those previous challenges. She’ll likely survive this one, too.
The Illinois 54th House district, with more than 105,000 people, includes portions of Palatine, Barrington, Inverness, Hoffman Estates and Rolling Meadows.
Congradulations on your victory this area needs a republican like you representing us down in Springfield not the liberal elite Matt Flemm or the pretend republican Bassi.
