(Springfield, IL) — February 10, 2010. Sick of jumping up from the dinner table to answer political candidates’ automated telephone calls around election day?
State Senators Dale Righter (R-Mattoon) and Chris Lauzen (R-Aurora) have answered your call.
Righter and Lauzen introduced legislation, Senate Bill 3135, on Monday that would prohibit political “robo” calls to individuals who have registered their telephone number or numbers on the Restricted Call (“Do Not Call”) Registry.
Call it the pesky political calls be-gone bill.
If approved by the Illinois General Assembly, the bill would take effect in time for the November 2010 general election.

This is not a new idea. Representatives Schmitz and Munson filed a bill on this very issue 2 years ago.

Mr. Cross drilled 14,000 robo calls into the 71st District, all 14,000 aimed at one Democratic candidate for State Rep: me. The calls were made district-wide not once but twice, all within a week of the Feb. 2 primary. The calls were called “voter alerts” and they lied about my budget and tax plans.

How can you as a politician vote to decrease pensions but not your own. Mismanagement of State funds is the reason the State of Illinois is targeting public pension. This mismanagement was not done by the janitor or president of the universities and colleges in the State. It was done by politicians like yourself. When a problem arises it is always the working people who end up paying for mistakes they have not done. What kind of public education will Illinois have in the future now that benefits for employees are reduced?
