Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen endorse State Rep. candidate Daniel Biss (D-Evanston)
(Skokie, IL) – September 22, 2010. In a surprise endorsement, Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen has declared his support for State Representative Candidate Daniel Biss (D-Evanston) over Republican challenger Hamilton Chang (R-Wilmette) in the battle for the House seat being vacated by State Rep. Beth Coulson (R-Glenview).
“Daniel’s commitment, dedication to the people of our community, and independent leadership is unmatched,” Van Dusen said.
“Daniel knows the hard work that is necessary to be effective in the General Assembly and I am confident that he is the right person to succeed Beth Coulson as our State Representative.”
Van Dusen, who has often been neutral in state house races, said, “I do not always endorse candidates for State Representative, but the Village of Skokie has always had a strong working relationship with Representative Coulson, and I felt it was absolutely critical that her replacement be an equally strong partner.”
“I look forward to working closely with Daniel on the issues of economic development and job creation that are so important to our community,” Van Dusen.
“Having the support of Mayor Van Dusen is both an honor and a true reflection of the hard work this campaign has put forth,” Biss said. I am particularly excited to work with the Mayor and the Village of Skokie to support partnerships between the private sector and local and state governments…”
Biss ran against Coulson in 2008, losing narrowly with 49% of the vote.
