Ann Williams
(Chicago, IL) – January 7, 2010. The Sierra Club of Illinois has announced its endorsement of Ann Williams in the Illinois 11th District State House race.
The Sierra Club noted Williams’ success in advancing Attorney General Lisa Madigan‘s pro-environment legislative agenda. Williams, an attorney and resident of the District’s the Northcenter neighborhood, served as the Attorney General’s legislative point person for more than four years.
Previously, Williams worked on House Speaker Michael Madigan‘s staff.
The Illinois Sierra Club Chapter chapter represents more than 23,000 individuals statewide, 900 of whom reside in the 11th District.
“I am a longtime admirer of the Sierra Club’s tremendous work to protect our communities,” said Williams. “I very much look forward to working with them in Springfield to promote a clean environment, energy efficiency, and renewable energy sources.”
Williams faces civil rights attorney Ed Mullen and former Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Dan Farley in the race for the House seat on Chicago’s north side being vacated by John Fritchey. Fritchey is running for the Cook County Board.
Scott Tucker is running in the Republican primary.
I have a problem backing an “environmentalist” who has littered our neighborhood with hundreds of fliers and billboards – none of which that I can see are made from recycled paper or are recyclable. No thanks.
