(Chicago, IL) — July 14, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today the resignation of Kurt Friedenauer as Director of the Department of Juvenile Justice, stunning one top industry lobbyist.
In a statement Quinn said:
“I have accepted the resignation of Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice Director Kurt Friedenauer, effective July 31. I thank Director Friedenauer for his years of thoughtful and dedicated service to the state of Illinois during these challenging times. I will name his replacement shortly.
I appreciate Kurt’s assistance over the next two weeks as we continue to work to improve the conditions and life outcomes of the youth in our care through the historic merger of the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Department of Children and Family Services.”
Upon hearing the news, a juvenile justice lobbyist said earlier today, “I just saw Kurt last week, and he said ‘everything was great’. He gave no hint that he was heading out the door.”
