(Chicago, IL) — July 29, 2010. The staff pay raise fiasco has fouled Governor Pat Quinn‘s effort to get back in the game.
After trailing GOP opponent Bill Brady by only three points in a June Rasmussen poll, Quinn is now down by seven points according to a new poll released today:
The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Brady picking up 44% of the vote, while Quinn earns support from 37%. Eleven percent (11%) prefer a different candidate, and nine percent (9%) are undecided.
Since June, Quinn has come under a deluge of criticism for handing out 43 raises to 35 members of staff in the governor’s office while calling for “share sacrifice” as he cut the Illinois budget to manage the $13 billion deficit.
The boneheaded staff-raises has cost Quinn dearly.
