(Chicago, IL) – November 3, 2010. While the bean counters and lawyers at the Cook County and Chicago Board of Elections continue to sift through the uncounted absentee and other ballots in the Illinois Governor’s race, it is clear that Governor Pat Quinn has defeated GOP State Senator Bill Brady.
“I think (Mr. Quinn’s margin) is going to be significantly higher” than 8,300, said veteran election lawyer Andy Raucci, a Republican, earlier today, according to Crain’s political columnist Greg Hinz.
Raucci was right.
With 99% of precincts reporting at 3:25 p.m., Quinn has now expanded his early morning edge of around 8,300 to 16,210 or 47% to 46%, with the remaining vote spread among minor candidates.
There are not enough remaining, uncounted votes in friendly Brady precincts to overcome Quinn’s lead.
And according to Quinn spokesman, Mica Matsoff:
“The ballots left to be counted appear mostly to come from Cook County, where the Governor held a large margin over Senator Brady. We expect to hold our lead, and may increase it. We do not see a path to victory for Bill Brady.
As Gov Quinn said last night, “the people have won and I we believe we won…We know there are more votes to be counted, but we are ahead.” We expect to hold that lead, and expect that Pat Quinn will continue to be our Governor.”
Hinz also reports that insiders within the Brady camp recognize their candidate has lost.
“It’s over,” a top Brady ally said.
Brady, however, spoke to reporters earlier this morning and argued that it will be “a 30 day process” to settle the election, while refusing to identify where he would make up the difference to overtake Quinn. The bulk of uncounted votes are in Chicago and Cook County which Quinn won easily.
Brady has lost. A concession should come sooner than 30 days.
Congratulations, Governor Quinn.
I believe all week you have been calling for a Republican landslide in Illinois…stop reading the polls…Madigan’s operation kicked butt! Oh, and Quinn did pretty good too.

Warning. Just warning.

Posted by David Ormsby | November 3, 2010, 4:57 PMThank god. Bill Brady = Bigotry. A man who will vote against anything related to the LGBTQ community doesn’t deserve to be governor of “all” the people; He only cares about “some” of the people.
And he’s still not even man enough to give a concession speech. It’s a shame.
