Carol Moseley Braun Hires Springfield Lobbyist as Chicago Mayor Campaign Policy Director

(Chicago, IL) — December 2, 2010. Chicago mayor hopeful and former U.S. Senator Carol Moseley Braun has tapped a Springfield lobbyist to shape her public policy proposals for her comeback campaign.

Dan Johnson-Weinberger will hold the policy director post, helping to round-out Braun’s top campaign team that includes campaign manager Mike Noonan, a former aide to House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago), and press secretary Renee Ferguson, a former WMAQ-TV news investigative reporter.

Weinberger, a University of Chicago-trained lawyer, runs his own political consulting firm, Progressive Public Affairs, and is well-known in Springfield as a top progressive public policy lobbyist for clients, such as Midwest High Speed Rail Association, Regional Transportation Authority of Northeastern Illinois, FairVote, Chicago Metropolis 2020, and United Neighborhood Organization.

“PPA is one the main reasons why we became the most successful rail advocacy group in the nation,” said Rick Harnish, Executive Director, Midwest High Speed Rail Association.

At the University of Chicago Law School, Weinberger’s classroom experience helped boost his public policy credentials by studying under one of his more unique professors–Barack Obama.

Braun made a good choice.
