AUDIO: Governor Pat Quinn Says He Will Put Massive Illinois Gaming Expansion Bill Under a “Microscope”

(Springfield, IL) – June 1, 2011. The proposal to add five new casinos and add slot machines at horse racing tracks awaits Governor Pat Quinn’s signature. But Quinn said today at a press conference in Springfield that he has concerns, calling the bill “excessive”.

The Governor wants to examine the bill thoroughly – under a microscope.

The bill’s supporters say the plan would generate up to $1.5 billion dollars up front from licensing fees and $500 million annually.

Using a parliamentary maneuver, Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago) has held the bill in Senate rather transmit it to Quinn’s desk under the current uncertainty regarding the Governor’s intentions.
