Illinois Primary 2012 Election Results: Derrick Smith, Kelly Cassidy, David McSweeney, Silvana Tabares Win… and More

(Chicago, IL) – March 20, 2012. As of 9:58 p.m., some key Illinois House of Representative primary races important to us have been settled, with one incumbent lawmaker losing and another on the edge of loosing.

Indicted Democratic State Rep. Derrick Smith (D-Chicago), incumbent State Rep. Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago) have won their contests. Incumbent State Rep. Kent Gaffney (R-Lake Barrington) has lost to David McSweeney (R-Barrington). State Rep. Toni Berrios (D-Chicago) is clinging to a razon-thin 100 vote lead over Will Guzzardi. And in a battle for an open House seat in Chicago, Democrat and two-time candidate Rudy Lozano has lost to Silvana Tabares.

Illinois House 7th District:

  • Rory Hoskins 4,412 38.4%
  • Chris Welch 4,500 39.2%
  • Beyonca Johnson 1,583 13.8%
  • Princess Dempsey 985 8.6%

Illinois House 10th District:

  • Derrick Smith 6,678 77.0%
  • Tom Swiss 1,997 23.0%

Illinois House 14th District:

  • Kelly Cassidy 5,467 62.6%
  • Paula Basta 3,268 37.4%

Illinois House 21st District:

  • Rudy Lozano 3,398 47.6%
  • Silvana Tabares 3,740 52.4%

Illinois House 22nd District

  • Michael Madigan 9,566 75.6%
  • Michele Piszczor 2,190 17.3%
  • Olivia Trejo 564 4.5%
  • Mike Rodriguez 336 2.7%

Illinois House 26th District:

  • Christian Mitchell 6,257 52.0%
  • Kenny Johnson 5,767 48.0%

Illinois House 34th District:

  • Elgie Sims 5,409 39.9%
  • Richard Wooten 3,197 23.6%
  • Sandra Wortham 2,547 18.8%
  • Kyle Kasperek 1,970 14.5%
  • Paul Gregoire 417 3.1%

Illinois House 39th District:

  • Toni Berrios 3,805 50.7%
  • Will Guzzardi 3,704 49.3%

Illinois House 52nd District:

  • David McSweeney 4,169 41.0%
  • Kent Gaffney 3,518 34.6%
  • Danielle Rowe 2,474 24.3%
