(Princeton, NJ) – May 6, 2010. It may be premature to draw a definitive conclusion, but the Republicans’ political momentum seems to be stalling.
According to a new Gallup poll:
Republican registered voters’ enthusiasm about voting in this year’s midterm elections has declined significantly in recent weeks. As a result, Republicans’ advantage over Democrats on this measure has shrunk from 19 points in early April to 10 points in the latest weekly aggregate.
A drop in the enthusiastic voters backing the GOP could undermine their attempt to recapture the U.S. House and could aid Governor Pat Quinn’s effort to hold onto his office against GOP challenger State Senator Bill Brady (R-Bloomington).
Stay tuned.
