(Chicago, IL) — September 23, 2010. Chicago Alderman Brian Doherty‘s spending as a city council member is almost certainly going to get whacked by his Democratic opponent, John Mulroe, in the state senate campaign for the seat vacated by former State Senator James DeLeo (D-Chicago).
Earlier in September, two Chicago residents John Marks and Nicholas Gill both filed Freedom of Information Act requests with the City of Chicago seeking Doherty’s expenditure records for 2008 and 2009.
It will be no surprise to political observers that if Marks and Gill soon receive the records from the city, those documents will end up in the hands of Democratic campaign operatives. The juiciest morsels will find their into campaign mailers hitting Doherty, the council’s lone Republican, for, undoubtedly, (fill in the blanks) “wasteful spending”.
Stay tuned.
