(Chicago, IL) — September 30, 2010. State Rep. Mark Walker (D-Arlington Heights), locked in tight contest with ex-GOP State Rep. David Harris yesterday refused to commit to vote for Michael Madigan for another term as Speaker.
Chicago WBEZ radio reporter Sam Hudzik reported:
“To get there, Walker is stressing his independence. He says he won’t commit to voting for Madigan next year as Democratic leader.”
In addition to Walker casting doubts about his vote for speaker, Michelle Mussman, who is running for the north suburban House seat being vacated by State Rep. Paul Froelich, also has refused to commit to vote for Madigan and Dennis Ahern, who is seeking to replace retiring State Rep. Michael Boland in Western Illinois, has announced that he will not back Madigan for another term as speaker.
There goes another.
