(Chicago, IL) – October 6, 2006. More national polling results continue to roll in that point to stalling GOP momentum, a slackening which is showing up in local Illinois races.
Republicans and Democrats are nationally in a dead heat—43%-43%—in a generic congressional ballot test according to the latest Zogby Interactive poll.
Previous polling from Sept. 27 showed Republicans with a five-point lead in the Congressional generic ballot question.
The most recent survey was conducted from Oct. 1-4.
Locally, one Illinois House Democratic source said, “Some our more threatened seats are beginning to move out of the danger zone, according to new poll data that I’ve seen.”
The fading national GOP lead is also reflected in the Illinois gubernatorial contest between Governor Pat Quinn and his GOP rival Bill Brady. Brady had been leading Quinn by as much as 13 points in earlier polls, but it is now trailing Quinn by six points in the most recent Illinois governor race poll.
Democrats at the national and local levels are still likely to lose legislative seats. The Tea Party-fueled anger has not abated, but loyal Democratic voters are stirring. A reactivated Democratic base will, however, only trim some of the earlier anticipated losses, but losses there will be, just fewer if the new trend holds.
Stay tuned.
Obama flies around more than any President in the history of our country! Who pays for all the flights? I understand that it costs over $20,000.00/hour to operate AirForce One. I’m sure it cost equal for Michelle to fly around as well. Who pays for all this wasteful travel? The American public, I am sure! Think how that money could benefit the American economy if it hadn’t been wasted on all the flights!
I would appreciate it if someone on your staff could investigate the cost and who pays for all the traveling. This would be a good fleecing of America! Let me know even if you do not air the idea.
